Non-Lucrative Visa

The Non-Lucrative Visa, often referred to as "the retiree visa," is an excellent option for individuals looking to move to Spain, regardless of whether they are retired. This visa allows non-EU citizens to reside in Spain without engaging in any work activities. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves during stay, along with valid health insurance coverage. This visa is particularly appealing for those who wish to enjoy the beautiful lifestyle and culture of Spain without the need to work.

Digital Nomad Visa

The digital nomad visa for Spain allows remote workers to live and work in the country legally. To apply, individuals must gather necessary documents, including but not limited to: proof of employment, financial proof to ensure they can cover costs while in Spain on said visa, valid passport, and health insurance. The process involves submitting an application to the nearest Spanish consulate or embassy, paying the required fees, and attending an interview. The visa enables holders to enjoy the vibrant culture lifestyle of Spain while continuing their professional endeavors.

  • Main Applicant: 400% of the IPREM (€28,800 annually or €2,400 monthly).

  • Each Additional Family Member: 100% of the IPREM (€7,200 annually or €600 monthly per dependent).

  3. Submit Application – Attend the appointment to submit your application and provide biometric data.

  4. Await Decision – The consulate typically processes applications within one to three months.

  5. Visa Collection – If approved, collect your visa within one month of notification.

  7. Obtain TIE (Foreigner Identity Card) – Within one month of arrival, apply for the TIE at the local immigration office or police station.

Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV)

  • Initial Validity: 1 year

  • Renewals: Can be renewed for 2 more years at a time. After 5 years, you may apply for permanent residency in Spain.

Financial Proof for NLV Renewal (After the First Year)

Since the renewal grants a 2-year residence permit, applicants must show they have sufficient funds to cover two full years instead of just one.

  • Main Applicant: 400% of IPREM for two years

    • €28,800/year × 2 years = €57,600

  • Each Additional Family Member: 100% of IPREM for two years

    • €7,200/year × 2 years = €14,400 per dependent

Ways to Prove Financial Means

✔ Bank statements showing a balance that meets the requirement
✔ Passive income (investments, rental income, dividends, pensions)
✔ Proof of savings covering the required amount

✔ Renewal required every 5 years instead of every 2 years
💰 Permanent Residency Application Fee: ~€80–€150
